MARRIAGE PREPARATION

Congratulations – YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED! We hope that plans are coming together, it’s not too stressful and you’re actually having loads of FUN planning for one of the most important days in your life as a couple.

One question: In amongst all the planning, what have you put in place to make sure your relationship is ready for a GREAT MARRIAGE?

At All Saints and St Lawrence, we value Christian Marriage and consider it a privilege and responsibility to help you to plan ahead. We strongly encourage you to attend a Marriage Preparation Day – preferably before your wedding day, although if necessary, even after the day is not too late.

Each year, the Marriage Preparation Day takes place on the first Saturday in March.

Most couples spend up to 250 hours planning their wedding, but very little time, if any, planning for married life. There are many things you can do to begin building a lifelong, happy marriage. Investing in your relationship before you are married will reap rewards for many years to come. We would like to help you to do this by inviting you on a DATE!

During the day there will be opportunities to discuss such topics as communication, family life, expectations, finances etc. You will be encouraged as a couple to think and chat about what this all means. It’s between you two, so don’t worry, there is no obligation to share in the group sessions. We don’t talk about the wedding ceremony – we leave that to your meeting with the Rector.  This day is about one thing: YOU!  The materials we are using have been used across the country.

As Dan, from one couple shared:

It helped us to look ahead to life after the day itself” Kate: “The day gave us tools to work together to keep our marriage strong. It laid firm foundations for our love to last far beyond our romantic honeymoon.

And another, Jenny and Sam:

Thank you for putting on the marriage prep day on Saturday.

It was great to have time out to talk about all the topics you raised and in such a neutral setting it helped us talk without emotions getting in the way, as they tend to in everyday life. We both feel very positive about how we will approach issues and differences in our marriage.

The content was great and the day was the right length too-although we could maybe have done with an extra hour to have a nap on Catherine’s super comfy sofa after that amazing spread at lunch!

We really appreciate you all taking the time to put on this day-thank you.

So please come along and invest some time in making your relationship even stronger.
