FUNERALS

Many people find organising a funeral a painful and difficult process. At St Lawrence and All Saints we are here to support and help you.

If the person has died in Effingham or Little Bookham (or has connections with either village), one of our ministry team will be glad to take the funeral service, whether you wish this to be in one of the churches or at the Crematorium.  It is also possible to have a service in church followed (or preceded) by the Committal at the Crematorium.

Burials are not possible at St Lawrence (where there is no room left in the churchyard) although, by arrangement with the Parish Council, it is possible for a burial to take place in the Parish Council Cemetery, which adjoins St Lawrence Churchyard.

However, the interment of ashes is possible in the new Garden of Remembrance in St Lawrence Churchyard. The interment of ashes can also take place at All Saints’, and burials are possible in the new extension to the churchyard. The Rector will help you plan the service within Church guidelines in the way most appropriate to your needs and the wishes of the person who has died.

Please be assured that sympathetic, compassionate and spiritual support will always be given to bereaved families.

Funeral arrangements are made with the Rector through a Funeral Director, but of course it is possible for a family to speak with the Rector, Reverend Mandy MacVean directly.
